Cycling between overwhelm, cynicism, and scattered activism is exactly what Trump wants you to do. Here's how to recognize you're stuck and then move from reactivity to strategic engagement.
This is gold! Is there a way for me to share this with my colleagues and allies? I am a clinical social worker and emerging activist— this is so very helpful!
Hi Christina, please forward the article to anyone you think might benefit and encourage them to subscribe. I will be elaborating on the framework in future posts. Subscribing ensures access to future developments.
Also, I’d be happy to chat about specific applications of the model. I’m also a social worker. DM me and I’d be delighted to set up a call
I may consider a call in the Fall. I work in rural Western MA, and the private group practice I oversee is committed to serving folks with financial hardship and longstanding trauma histories-- secondary to being subjected to repeated inequities and complex trauma borne from systems of oppressions. So, I am constantly pulled into the vortex of the news. I feel compelled to speak out and resist and stay informed for them. But I am finding that I get swallowed whole by the current atrocities. This framework resonates with me and I will share it with my team-- who is like-minded and social justice oriented!
Thank you for sharing the framework. I have family in the Northampton area and visit that region frequently. Would be happy to stop in for coffee sometime to chat with your colleagues for an informal discussion about how to help clients struggling with overwhelm from systemic pressures
Your insights are remarkable. I have been dealing with this terrible cycle while I’m on vacation, trying to recharge. It’s impossible to escape the horrible news and I’ve been having moments of despair, even while I’m appreciating a beautiful part of our country. Your writing is exactly what I need to hear right now. Thank you and please keep up your work. It is a lifeline.
I totally relate! My son's wedding was a couple of weeks ago and I was determined to "check out" of the news cycle for at least 4 days. It was challenging. But I did a good job of being present for that special occasion.
This is a marathon and we need to pace ourselves. We can't sprint all day, every day. That's not sustainable.
You matter. And that means your spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being matter.

Hi Jennifer,
I totally relate! My son's wedding was a couple of weeks ago and I was determined to "check out" of the news cycle for at least 4 days. It was challenging. But I did a good job of being present for that special occasion.

You are not alone. We are all in this together.
Thank you so much for your support,
